Yesterday I learnt about a gene variation that can be used to identify individuals that may have Coeliacs Disease and who may therefore need further diagnosis and intervention. To read about it, follow this link

For those of you who love reading good blogs about good (and bad!) science, there is an excellent blog by Dr Keith Grimaldi, Keith and I used to work together in the USA and he is one of the smartest scientists I know in the field of nutrigenomics. Please have a look at his post about research and nutrigenomics. Really food for thought!

If you had any lingering doubt about how the science of nutrigenomics (diet and genes) has become a part of nutrition science, then here is one more thing to show you just how entrenched it really is. There is a new-ish, what we call 'peer-reviewed' journal called Genes & Nutrition, a whole journal, just about Genes & Nutrition!

Incidentally, while we are on the this topic there is also a journal called the Journal of Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics, click here The Journal of Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics

So for those of you who ask is there any science to show a connection between diet and genes - these are a great place to start!
