DNALYSIS Biotechnology was founded with the aim of bringing state-of-the-art molecular technologies to the South African health and wellness markets. We aim to leverage the recent advances in Human Genomics Research to benefit the South African health consumer, by providing access to these developments in a low-cost, consumer-friendly manner.

Our emphasis is on the relationship between genes, diet and lifestyle in determining health and wellness. In this context our gene tests provide a valuable tool for the management of health and wellness, including disease risk reduction (DNA Health) and weight management (DNA Diet). We use cutting-edge molecular technologies to provide our clients with reliable, high-quality services, performed according to the highest international standards.

DNAlysis comprises a highly dedicated team of scientists whose combined expertise encompass the fields of Human Genetics, Molecular Biology, Nutritional Genomics and Dietetics.
Dr. Daniel Meyersfeld completed his PhD in molecular biology at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, in 2005. Following two years’ post-doctoral research Daniel established DNAlysis, a company dedicated to bridging the gap between institute-based scientific research, and direct benefits to the consumer.

Based on his DNA Health test results, Daniel needs to pay particular attention to his Bone Health, and his Vitamin B intake is seriously inadequate. To lose weight he requires a very low fat diet and frequent periods of high-intensity exercise. He fits in several spinning classes a week, but is still having a hard time accepting that a round of golf is not high-intensity exercise.

Yael Joffe
(RD SA) is a dietitian who specialises in nutritional genomics. She recently returned home to South Africa, after furthering the field of nutrigenomics in the USA, and co-authoring the critically acclaimed nutrigenomics title It’s Not Just Your Genes. In addition to her activities in the private sector, Yael developed a nutrigenomics module for the Masters in Nutrition degree offered by the University of Stellenbosch and is currently completing her PhD in Nutrigenomics at the University of Cape Town. She is currently writing her second book on DNA and weight management, specifically for the South African market.

Angela Shumba
is our laboratory technician. She has a BSc. Honours in Microbiology from Pretoria University, and a diploma in project management. Angela can pretty much eat what she wants and never gain weight, much to the disgust of everyone else in the office.

Calista Hardwick
heads up client services as well as looking after office administration. With extensive experience in administrative positions, we are confident the office is in exceptionally good hands. We don’t need a DNA test to tell us that.
